Following the decision to provide fertilizers and other agriculture inputs in kind to the farmers for the sowing of Rabi crops, the farmers across the state have almost lifted 90 percent DAP from the Primary Cooperative Agriculture Societies (PCASs) worth Rs. 500 crore. One of the farmer said that this is due to election time. We havn't received this facilities in last 4 years, but due to coming election in Punjab, we are getting everything this year. Government should give these facilities all time to farmers. A spokesperson of the Chief Minister’s Office said that the state government, on the personal intervention of Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal, this pro-farmer decision was taken after realizing the hardships faced by them after Reserve Bank of India’s directive not allowing the Cooperative Banks to accept deposits of the demonetized notes of Rs.500 and Rs.1000.

In a major relief to the farmers of the border areas of the state, the Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal today directed all the Deputy Commissioners (DCs) of the border districts to disburse the compensation to farmers having land across the fence within a week.
